This is a personal choice, and there is not an option that is inherently ‘better’ than the other. The B.A. has fewer co-requisite requirements, and an additional course in Neuroscience and the Humanities. The B.S. has more co-requirements that fall within Division V and an additional research requirement. Both tracks will provide an excellent cross-disciplinary neuroscience education.
Will there be study abroad opportunities?
Yes! We have an ongoing collaboration with the Neuroscience Institute of the University of Salamanca. There will be other study abroad opportunities, as well. Please check with the Center for Global Programs & Studies for current programs.
Will I be able to minor in neuroscience?
Unfortunately, we are sunsetting the neuroscience minor.
Do I need to have senior standing to take NEU 389?
Yes, NEU 389 is for students with senior standing. Students should have a breadth and depth of neuroscience experience before entering into this seminar.
I’m pre-health / pre-med. Can I major in neuroscience?
Absolutely. The neuroscience major is a great pre-health major. Please see our suggested pathway through the major, and check your pre-health requirements here.
Who should I contact if I still have questions?
Please reach out to the Program Director, Dr. Katy Lack (lackak@wfu.edu) or the Program Associate Director, Dr. Melissa Maffeo (masicaml@wfu.edu) with any questions.
